Excess

An amount of money a policyholder is required to pay towards the cost of a claim. This is usually split into different excesses such as compulsory and voluntary.

 

Excess of Loss Policy

A specialist excess policy that covers claim costs that exceed the amount specified in the original policy.

 

Exclusion

A stated situation or condition that an insurance policy does not cover.

 

Exposure
